ABOUT BIG EASY JAZZ BAND
Jerry Christopher's Big Easy Jazz Band presents the rich musical culture of New Orleans with professionalism and class. Their twenty years playing together have taken the BEJB to virtually every major hotel and convention venue in the city, including the Hilton, Marriot, and Windsor Court Hotels and a regular stint on the steamboat Natchez. Whether supporting stars like Lily Tomlin, wowing audiences of the smash-hit Bust Out Burlesque at Tipitina's, or simply entertaining convention visitors with professional grace and authenticity, the BEJB represents New Orleans music at its finest.
Their pride and musicianship won them the top prize at the French Quarter Festival's recent battle of the bands, but they are equally at home leading a second-line parade or setting the mood at more intimate, private functions. Jerry Christopher, the official guitarist for Guitar Master, is a veteran bandleader, able to set an ensemble perfect for each occasion, with anywhere from three or four musicians to a full orchestra. Playing over three hundred engagements a year in the years before hurricane Katrina shifted New Orleans' convention industry, Christopher's BEJB have developed a sterling reputation for outstanding musicianship and reliable professionalism.
